Every diver knows the feeling; the thrill, the magic, the euphoria of an awesome dive. That feeling that calls you back to the water when you’ve just surfaced, that urge just to get back down there. We feel you, we feel it too.. We feel that exact same way about the diving equipment that we manufacture, it just has to be perfect.
Our obsession with developing and manufacturing the very best diving equipment is what drives us. Our post-dive brief isn’t about the things we saw, its ALL about how well the gear worked.
Every piece of equipment is manufactured to make every diver as efficient, comfortable and relaxed as possible to enjoy this paradise we all love so much.
It is this obsession to our equipment that made our original buoyancy compensator systems the obvious choice for use in the deepest open water world record in 2005.
Re-inventing the wheel is just a plain waste of time.
We start our development with extensive diving on a prototype design and start the fine tweaking from there. Any feedback from our test team (well over 100 years of cumulative diving experience) is considered and the prototype further ‘modded’ till we are all completely satisfied with the final product.
Next comes materials selection, manufacture specifications, durability testing, destructive testing and finally, comparison with existing benchmark products. If we still can’t produce a better offering than what’s out there, we bin the entire project and start again.
The very best raw materials, world class manufacturing methods, time-tested components and experienced technicians – its ALL in the details.
The individual components for the DECO buoyancy compensator systems, harnesses, regulators, stage rigging kits and DSMB’s are all assembled and tested in-house. Our material suppliers and partners span the globe, delivering components that meet our design and material specifications.
Once all the components have been delivered, the painstaking QC process ensures that every component, every seam weld, every valve, every high-pressure seat and piston and hose fitting is re-checked and QC passed before we assemble any of our products. Many of the components are finished here in South Africa before the final assembly begins. We pride ourselves in delivering exceptional quality diving equipment to our customers world-wide.
Every single ultrasonically welded component in a DECO product is pressure tested for 48 hours before it is approved, every stitched seam is checked for strength integrity, every regulator first and second stage as well as SPG is individually pressure checked, set and re-tested with an in-house test bench machine. ALL our regulators are flow tested to an equivalent depth of 90m (on air ) as a minimum before we are happy.
We just will not let any product leave our doors unless we would be prepared to bet our lives on it.
