The DIR (Doing It Right) sport diver configuration is essentially the same gear configuration used for technical twinset diving but modified to accommodate a single cylinder.

Very similar to the advanced sport diver configuration, the difference lies in the addition of what is referred to as the ‘long hose’. As opposed to a sport diver octo hose, the long hose is attached from the first stage regulator to the primary second stage that the diver uses throughout the dive.

In the event that air needs to be donated to a diver in need, the long hose (1,5 – 2,1m in length) is donated to the out-of-air diver while the rescuer goes onto the shorter hose regulator positioned around their neck on a bungee cord. This longer hose allows for more space for both the rescuer and rescuee to have the space to make a safe and controlled exit from the water.

DECO ADVANCED SPORT DIVER configuration content:

• Backplate (Stainless steel or Aluminium), wing (25Lb or 38Lb) with harness (DIR or QA harness).
• 150cm – 210cm primary ‘long’ regulator hose runs down the right side of the diver, under a belt stick or light canister then up the front of the diver and around the neck to the second stage. This is the hose the diver uses primarily and is easy to offer to an out-of-air diver yet keeps the configuration very clean and streamlined.
• 60/65cm short regulator hose on the backup regulator that is held below the divers’ neck held with a bungee necklace. This becomes the divers’ backup should they need to donate their primary regulator.
• 66cm SPG hose.
• Brass SPG with bolt snap connected to the left waist D-ring.
• A thigh pouch is strapped to the right thigh with straps and a bolt snap attaching the pouch to the waistband. This is used to store a spare mask, SMB and spool, slates, dive lights etc.
